<lj:music>Sex and the City</lj:music>

I decided to give it another go, I don't really have anything interesting to tell you about my life lately, thought it's been great, I have nothing that special to report. I've still been secretly reading all your blogs.

So I figured, I'd like to write something here anyway. So since I work in customer service (T-Mobile), I'd write down funny, weird, absurd or entertaining on a regular basis here. Though sometimes slightly exaggerated, are based fully on truth.

Sometimes I have to deal with the stupidity of people, the ignorant, the bold and the downright assholes. The last ones are a fun group to deal with. I am rather witty, and nothing really throws me off. This led to the next conversation:

Me>> T-Mobile Business, how may I help you?
Customer>> Yeah, it seems I've no range, I am not able to make calls, is anything wrong?

This is my job, something is wrong, I figure out what it is, I help them correct it. So to get started I ask for either his account number, or mobile phone number. A quick look at his account led me to:

Me>> Thank you sir.
Me>> It seems you've been late with some payments.
Me>> As it stands, currently, you're behind on three payments.
Customer>> So, you can do something about this?
Me>> Well, I am afraid there is little I can do.
Me>> If you wish to make outgoing calls again, you'll have to pay, that which is due.
Customer>> How can you expect me to do business like this? I am unable to call my clients!

Funny, I never made any insinuations.

Me>> I can give you all the information required, to fix this rather unfortunate problem within a few hours.
Customer>> I don't have a few hours!
Me>> Look sir, there is nothing I can do to speed this process up, this is all I can do.
Customer>> I figured a punk like you wouldn't understand, I want to talk to someone in charge.

What? Understand what, exactly? Seeing as how he is already pissed off, I rather be a little careful here:

Me>> Understand what, exactly?
Customer>> This is no way to do business, it's not like when my clients miss a payment, I kick them out of my database.
Me>> Granted, but you're behind on 3 payments.
Customer>> This is no way to deal professionally with your clients.

Yeah, he's behind on 3 payments, pissed off there were repercussions. And we are the unprofessional ones?

Me>> Sir, we've already given you two seperate notifications, regarding the current state of affairs.
Customer>> You are going to fix this!
Me>> Fix what, exactly?
Customer>> When I hang up, I will be able to use my cell phone again, or I will cancel my entire account!

(If I had a nickle every time I heard that...)

Me>> So let me see if I understand this correctly.
Me>> You are using a service we provide for you. You agreed, that there would be monthly payments.
Me>> When you missed the last three payments, we were professional enough, to sent you notifications.
Me>> However, there was no response.
Me>> So, as a repercussion, we blocked your outgoing calls.
Me>> In short, you didn't pay for the service you wanted to use, so the service was suspended.
Customer>> I thought a punk like you wouldn't understand.
Me>> So when I refuse to pay my bills, I should complain about not having hot water?
Customer>> ....

A small pause, you could hear him think. He's probably going to try a different angle (they always do).

Customer>> I've been a customer for almost 10 years now!
Customer>> I deserve to be treated better!

A quick check, yes he's been a customer for just over 8 years. This also wasn't the first time he's been late on his payments. Nice.

Customer>> And because of that, you should cut me some slack!
Me>> I've been going to the same supermarket for the past 7 years.
Me>> If I forget my wallet, do you think they will let me walk out of the store with a full cart?
Customer>> .... I want to talk to your supervisor.
Me>> I'm afraid that's not going to happen sir.
Customer>> Fine, then I am canceling my account.

And he hangs up.

I checked his account next morning, the money was in. The following few weeks I tracked the account. No cancel request came in. Aparantly, he's been more mellow to my colleagues. (Judging by the call logs anyway).

See, these conversations can go a few ways:

A) You own up to not paying in time, you ask how you can quickly deal with it and you pay.

We're cool. You're man enough to own up to it, suck it up and deal with it properly. I like you.

B) You don't own up to not paying in time. Find some excuse. You still request my help and I do.

I'm Cool. You're looking for excuses, but that won't change a thing. At least you didn't bitch about it. You paid and everything is fine again. Not so much with the liking.

C) You don't own up to not paying in time. You call customer service to bitch about not being able to call anymore.

You're an asshole (I am still cool though). Try as you might, the same rules apply to you, as they do to anyone else. You're not special, and there's nothing you can say to change it. I love you, because you gave me one hell of an awesome phone call. (I love being witty).

Yeah, people who are bitch because they believe themselves to be special. Please keep on bitching. You make my day.

Society, or something like it.

We all know how society works right?

There's a whole bunch of laws that dictate to a certain degree what we can, or can not do. These are written down, black on white. Nothing anyone can do about it (we can do something about it, but that's not my point here).

But equally important, if not, more important. Are the "unwritten laws". Or better said, human behavior. For example, there is no law against cutting in line in a supermarket, there is no law that says you cannot scream as loud as you can in a bypasser's ear, you cannot spit on the side walk, etc ,etc.

The people within a community/society dictates these unwritten rules, anyone who acts differently is usually regarded as anti-social. It has everything to do with how we treat people. Do unto others, as you would have them, do unto you.

Or in layman's terms: Act like an ass, expect to be treated as an ass.

Where am I going with all this?

http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2009/07/loyola_university_professor_be.html

Some American professor, did some research into a MMORPG. What he did was, go out of his way to annoy/harrass the players within this game as much as he possibly can, without breaking the laws of the game (EULA).

in other words, he made a complete ass out of himself, and was shocked to find out, he got treated like an ass.

Various debates were sparked, but my original point stands: The people in a community dictate the unwritten laws, and this professor clearly ignored them. Basically he was being completely ant-social, even if it was, in an online game.

To his amazement, people acted like people.

But what amazes me the most, he got like a funding for this for several years. Getting paid, to make an ass out of yourself, for several years, playing a game.

Time and money well spend, I am sure.

Well, I'm still alive. Dunno what I should report right now, so I'll give you some movie reviews :D

Seen 3 movies in the theatre:

Batman: The Dark Knight

Awesome, awesome and some more awesome. The acting is sublime, the story is deep and very personal (very indepth about the characters, personalities and how they evolve, adapting their beliefs feelings and opinions). The acting is great, the music (as with the previous movie) very fitting. And the humor is good. The Joker and Harvey "Two Face" were both excelently done. Harvey was scary, spot on. I do have a, somewhat small, complaint about the movie. I -hated- that they casted Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel. It's not that I don't like her as an actress. But she's not as good for the role as Katie Holmes.

Hancock

This movie, was a huge disapointment. The first 20 minutes or so, are actually kinda fun. The whole feeling of, what if Superman was an alcoholic/bum. He causes more harm then he does good, all that. Then the movie speeds up -rapidly-, they try to toss some sobby emotional history (between some of the characters) into the movie and Hancock is suposed to change in this good guy. It's all rather disapointing, and they totally stole Wolverine's outfit. I recommend you do not see this.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

Quite the long title. Great movie. Little story, lots of action and goodie looking CGI. The humor's good, and ofcourse there's Jet Li. Though he is getting old. The movie is very entertaining, has a nice flow of speed. The big battles are actualy fun and humurous to watch (picture an undead guy looking for his head). Money way better spent then Hancock.

Also gotten various movies, some old, some new(er).

Reeker

The story may seem confusing at the beginning, but as you get to the end, it'll all make sense. Admittetly, the movie is rather gory, but it has a great suspense and scary feeling to it. I can't shed much light on the story, because it'll ruin the plot twist for you. But it's good. Just don't watch it if you have a weak stomach.

Untracable

Another movie in the style of Saw. Just about 10 times worse. This guy has a website, where you can see someone die. Live. The more people watch that site, the faster that person dies. The concept is actually quite good, the execution is poor. Our so called "bad-guy", has a really poor motive for doing all this and a weaker background story. The ending is just as disapointing as the rest of the movie.

Cloverfield

Interesting movie. It doesn't have much of a story really. The way it's filmed, really pulls you into it. You really get the sense of dread and the urgency to run for your life. The visuals are stunning. It defenatly is a very very awesome movie.

Here's a small update that's about the future that's waiting to happen.

Joyce and I have a namelist! This is a little list with names we have for our children :)

We'd love to have two children, a boy and a girl, in that order. The boy's name will be Joei (pronounced just like Joey, just spelled slightly different). And the girl will be Amy Lee, but her actual name will just be Amy.

In case we have two boys, the second boy will be called Jake, and in case of two girls, the second girl will be called Nikki.

Just thinking about it all gets me excited, but a little nervous too.

    <lj:music>Burn In Silence - Angel Maker</lj:music>

Well I've got one client who's my resplonsiblitiy, so to speak. I go there every evening (sometimes saturday, never sunday), and I take care of her. I've a dozen clients now or so, but two really stand out, I won't mention names because privacy (obviously) but these two just stand out.

There's this guy, who had his shoulder broken in 3! places. He was in an accident inbvolving his scooter thing and he fell over onto a sidewalk, used his arms to absorb the impact, but slided along. Shoulder broke. I can't be sure that this has happened because of the accident or not, but somehow I doubt it. I had to shower him, so I came over, rang the bell and he opened. Damnit he smelled. Apparantly he hadn't showered in three weeks. But that's not all. His appartment was practically empty. There were two table, one with a laptop, one supporting a TV. one couch, an empty kitchen as far as I could see and judge. There was food all over the floor. The bed was stacked with dirty clothes, there was a pile of clothes as high as the washing machine and he went from VERY dirty underwear to slightly less dirty underwear. I was totally grossed out, but I have to safeguard my professionallity. Been there a few times now, everyone is aware of the situation, but I don't what (IF) anything is going to be done about it, I don't think anyone would want to live like that.

Second one, but this is one rather sad really. This old lady, 89 years of age, totally doesn't look like it. You'd say about 75 ish, tops. She's dementing. So her daughter called in help. That's admirable, but her daughter won't let her do ANYTHING anymore. They moved out the stove, so she can't cook. There's a microwave now, but she can't exactly use it. There are notes all through out the house that state daily things. Like take out the trash, who is coming at what times and all that. It's sad, because she is actually capable of doing alot of stuff still on her own. Danger, however, she might forget a great deal of things. But people should be around her and let her do what she wishes to do. That'd make her happy. Though you really know it's getting bad. I've been to her numerous times, helping with dinner and stuff. And every time we had the same conversation, she doesn't quite recognize or remember me yet. It's really sad, but she is such a nice person.

I'll have loads more in the future, but these two are special cases. Atleast to me.

    <lj:music>Rob Zombie - Never Gonna Stop</lj:music>

So last week I started my new job. I'm in homecare as you've gathered. I love it. I really do. I get alot of satisfaction out of it and I like doing what I do. People are so friendly and kind, it's amazing. I always have a nice chat with people while I do my activities.

I have to help people get dressed/underessed, wash/shower them/help them with medication/brushing their teeth to name but a few of the many things I have to do. I've had quite a few funny and interesting people. Like there's this elderly lady, who's 89 (but damn she totally doesn't look like it), but she has problems with her short term memory. I have to prepare her food and stay around a while to see if she eats any. So the food's done, I put some on her plate, set the table and put the plate on the table. In the mean while we've been chatting and suddenly she looks up asking if the food was ready. So I told her that it was and I told her the plate in front of her. Her reaction was "oh!" that's right. It's kinda weird and funny.

Also, my favorite case, every day at 9pm (except in weekends, explained in a bit), another elderly lady, 83 (does look like it to be honest). A very kind hearted old woman, who had a stroke. Because of this, the left side of her body functions not as good as, or not at all as it should. Every evening I help her get undressed, into her pyama's, wash her and brush her teeth. After that give her medicine and sleeping pills. We always have a nice talk and she's increadible friendly. Often she has family visiting her, so fortunatly she's not alone alot.

I luckily don't have to work alot in the weekends (usually saturday's), but I have to admit, I'd have a very hard time to work in the weekends. I'd hate being able to see Joyce only once every two weeks, or less. This job is very important for me, but not as important as she is. Jobs come and go, and I know that I won't be doing this forever (well same field of work, just a different location), Joyce is forever. She means more to me than anything ever will.

Anyway, that's my chatter for today. :)

    <lj:music>In This Moment - Beautiful Tragedy</lj:music>

Wow, I realize it's been quite a while since I've actually updated this journal. But I never really had the urge to write updates, though there are things I'd love to share with you guys. I've, however, always been reading your journals and talking about it to you via messengers and stuffs. I promiss I'll leave comments more often, since I plan on being more active on LJ. I'll try to update a few times per week, but I'll have more then enough material to update with.

But there's also some sad news to report. My grandfather has prostate cancer. He's doing okay I supose, but seeing that he is rather of age, there's always a chance that this might be the end of him. And I know I'll greatly miss him. We are very similar, our ideas and visions, our views on life and personality wise we share alot of common ground. I've always, and still, greatly look up to him and respect him deeply. I know that eventually he'll have to leave us, but I rather have that be later than sooner.

I have a full time job! I'll be in homecare. I'll go to people's homes and they need all kinds of help, from help in their households (vacuuming, dusting all that) from help to getting in/out of bed, getting (un)dressed, washing everything you can probably think of. I may not give injections and such but I am allowed to hand out medicine. With a few courses I'll be allowed to do that however, and that'll increase my already sizable income further. I start in two days, because there's a little bit of paperwork I gotta take care of tomorrow. I'll actually be working in my own neighboorhood. This is great, I know the way around and I'll be on familiar ground. I'm a bit nervous, since I'll be meeting alot of people I don't know and stuff, but I'm excited about it aswell.

Now on to the love department!

Joyce and I are together for 11 months already! It's really long, but it feel like time has just flown by. We've done so many fun things and we have the best time whenever we are together, it's just great. And I know that I want to share the rest of my life with her. We don't have any marriage plans (yet), but I know that I want to marry her, no question. Sometimes we like to discuss the future. We'll be married, have our own little house, we'd love to have two children a boy and a girl. Prefferably a boy first, so he can protect his little sister. I know Joyce will make a wonderful mother, and I like to think I'll make a good father. We'll probably also have a dog by that time, and maybe a few other animals, most likely a bunny.

Still on that topic. I am so lucky to have her, we're so good for eachother. I love spoiling her and taking care of her. We are so alike, we think and feel the same way. Often we react and say the same things to situations and it always makes us laugh. It feels so good, I lack the words. I really want to grow old with her. There's nothing I wouldn't do for her. I always hurt a little and feel sad when either of us has to go back home. And even though we're apart for a few days, I always miss her so much. There's nothing better than waking up next to her in the morning. I realize this sounds cheesy as hell and is full of clichés, but I love it.

Hah this entry has gotte a bit longer than expected, but it's all good. I'm happy with where I am in life and everthing is just going to get better along the way!

The movie is so amazing you are going to use profinaty just to explain how FUCKING AWESOME the movie is.

Optimus Prime had his original voice. There are alot of references to the old series. Lots of humor, GOOD humor that is. The entire thearte was occasioanaly loling.

All the Transformers were pretty much spot on. In voice, appearance and personality.

Seriously, this movie rocks so much. Must have the DVD. That'll take atleast 6 months sadly :(
